Our History

Our company from day one.

Leon Acord starts leasing trucks out of Tecumseh for AmeriGas.

1962

Ray Acord leaves his job at AmeriGas to start leasing trucks with Leon.

1969

Ray buys his first truck – a 1964 surplus cabover from AmeriGas.

1969

Ray buys an International cabover. Leon tells Ray he’ll never get it paid for.

1971

On advice from a banker, Ray buys the authority from Art Valley Gas.

1979

As soon as the deal is secured, Ray buys land in Chandler, Oklahoma for the Acord office. He builds the shop first.

1979

Leon is made a contractor at AmeriGas. He leaves AmeriGas for Acord and is made president of Acord Transportation.

1981

Leon retires, and Ray becomes president.

1991

Ray founds Cactus Tanks with Andy Sharp, an Acord driver and dispatcher.

1996

The Acord fleet reaches 100 trucks.

2002

The Cactus Tanks office is built in the neighboring lot.

2004

Ray buys his brother John’s assets and forms Acord Leasing and Acord Companies.

2005

Acord is the first trucking company in Oklahoma to receive SHARPS certification.

2005

Acord buys two terminals from Iowa Tanklines in Webster City, Iowa, and Aurora, Nebraska. The terminals become Acord Transportation North. The acquisition brings Acord’s fleet to 150 trucks.

2016

Jeff Acord become a partial owner and vice-president of Acord Transportation.
